by Chris Feargrieve
Officially making his debut at the 2001 Nova Scotia Designer Crafts Council’s Summer Designer Craft Market, Chris Feargrieve has been turning heads ever since with his highly original and mixed media designs. While constantly developing unique tools and processes for accomplishing his design ideas Chris transcends usual contemporary furniture design and manufacture to be truly evolutionary in his field.
His design esthetic has evolved from natural mechanical abilities and innate creativity. He remains staunchly unaffected and unfettered by popular or usual modes of design allowing him an unobstructed view “outside the box”. From this unique design perspective, Chris develops highly original and sought-after pieces of functional art furniture.

Dependent on world market availability, he uses a variety of salvaged burl including walnut, yellow cedar, redwood, rosewood, box elder as well as exotic rosewoods and ebony. Tung oil enhances and preserves the wood’s natural colour and beauty, and a topcoat of lacquer, wax or oil is buffed to a warm luster.

by Lyse Maheu
Machin Chouette has been established in 1995, by Lyse Maheu, a graphic designer. She manipulates pencils, paintbrushes, sewing machine and even a wood cuter bench in an incredible and natural way! Above all, she likes to create and give a new function to our ancestors objects. For Lyse, a hand truck can became a coffee table, a tap can become a lamp and a hen cage can become a cupboard. She always has the same goal: to make intelligent, original and functional objects and furniture always keeping in mind the quality.
